Presented by Ottawa Birdies
The Birdies Cup is more than a badminton tournament it’s a celebration of skill, sportsmanship, and community spirit. Now entering its 3rd edition, the Birdies Cup unites players from across cities to compete, connect, and create lasting memories on the court.
At the heart of this tradition lies the Crowning of the Golden Birdy, a sacred ceremony honoring champions whose names are forever etched in Birdies Cup history. The Golden Birdy, a symbol of greatness and glory does not fly to the unworthy. It rests only where champions have soared.
Join us this summer as we come together to play hard, forge friendships, and celebrate the enduring legacy of badminton excellence.

Played as a single-elimination knockout with random seeding, one loss and you're out. Keep winning to advance through the rounds, and the last player standing will claim the title of Golden Birdy Champion
Competition isn't divided into different group levels; it's simply going to be one big pool mostly of upper intermediate and advanced players
Add $5 to join singles
Players will register under one of the following four skill categories:
Advanced
Upper Intermediate
Lower Intermediate
Emerging
After the preliminary round, players will be further placed into final divisions based on performance:
Advanced → A or A+
Upper Intermediate → B or B+
Lower Intermediate → C or C+
Emerging → D
The tournament will use Yonex Mavis 300 plastic shuttles for Lower Intermediate and Emerging divisions. Upper Intermediate and Advanced divisions will play with feather shuttles. Players must bring their own shuttles
This system ensures fair and competitive play throughout the event.
Doubles teams with split-level players must register in the higher category (e.g., a team with an A and B-level player must compete in Advanced). The tournament committee reserves the right to adjust divisions based on observed play to ensure fairness and balance.
Celebrate the day in true Birdies Cup spirit at our semi-formal banquet, an evening of good food, great music, and even better company. It’s a chance to unwind, make memories, and keep the friendships flying long after the last rally.
