Birdies Super Series Overview

The Birdies Super Series isn’t just any badminton tournament, it’s a high-stakes competition where only the best rise to the top. To ensure a truly elite and exciting tournament, all teams must first go through a Qualification Round.

How It Works:

• Qualification Round: Every registered team must compete in preliminary matches to earn their spot in the tournament. This phase is designed to test skill, strategy, and teamwork under pressure.

• Tournament Round: Only the top-performing teams from the Qualification Round will advance to the main Tournament Round. These teams represent the strongest contenders, making the tournament both challenging and thrilling to watch and play.

What Makes It Special:

The competitive format of the Birdies Super Series pushes every team to bring their best from the very start. There are no shortcuts, only teams that prove themselves in the Qualification Round get the chance to compete for the title.

This structure makes the Super Series a true test of consistency, resilience, and talent. 

Qualification Round

Time: 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Venue:  Hintonburg Community Centre
Fee: $10 per player

Upper intermediate & advanced (Saturday, November 8th, 2025)

Emerging low intermediate (C) (Saturday, November 22nd, 2025)

Low intermediate (C+) & intermediate (B) (Saturday, December 6th, 2025)

Tournament Day

Date: Sunday December 14th 2025
Time: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Venue:  Carleton University
Fee: $35 per player

Categories & Format

Open Doubles

• Open doubles means teams can be MD, MX, WD

• We start the tournament with preliminary matches, followed by a double elimination playoff (Note: qualification round only has preliminary matches)

Divisions

Players will register under one of the following four skill categories:

• Advanced (feather)

• Upper intermediate (B+) (feather)

• Intermediate (B) (plastic)

• Low intermediate (C+) (plastic)

• Emerging low intermediate (C) (plastic)

The tournament will use Yonex Mavis 300 plastic shuttles for lower intermediate and emerging divisions. 

Intermediate and advanced divisions will play with feather shuttles. Players must bring their own shuttles    

The tournament committee reserves the right to adjust divisions based on observed play to ensure fairness and balance.
