Birdies Farm was created to solve a difficult problem: How can we continue to keep the fee of playing low so that no one in our community is left behind?
We believe the answer can be found in something simple and powerful, the land beneath our feet.
Through hard work, determination, and a deep love for the land, Birdies Farm was created as a way to grow and sell crops, with the profits helping to keep fees affordable for our players. It is more than a farm. It is part of our commitment to building a community where everyone has a chance to participate, belong, and enjoy the game we love.
And we are not doing it alone.
A group of Birdies players stepped forward to volunteer their time because they believe in the mission of Birdies Farm. They have rolled up their sleeves and helped wherever they can tending the garden, pulling weeds, watering crops, planting, caring, and doing the many hours of hard physical labour that a farm demands.
It hasn't been easy.
Our first year taught us that growing something meaningful comes with challenges. Storms swept through and damaged our crops. Our flowers were destroyed. And, in one particularly heartbreaking moment, the storm even took down our beloved scarecrow, Fredero. May he rest in peace!
But it didn't take down our spirit.
If anything, every challenge has added fuel to the fire inside us, the determination to keep going and make Birdies Farm a success.
Because the true fire behind Birdies Farm isn't the crops, the flowers, or even the farm itself.
It is our love for this community.
It is the belief that when we work together, we can give back. That we can create opportunities. That we can make a meaningful impact. And most importantly, that no player should ever be left behind simply because the cost is too high.
That belief is already beginning to bear fruit.
Despite the challenges of our first year, we successfully grew beautiful flowers that became part of our Birdies Cup tournament and banquet. And our journey continues. This fall, we will plant garlic, preparing for next year's harvest and another season of growth.
Every seed we plant carries a little bit of hope.
Every volunteer hour represents someone believing in our mission.
Every harvest brings us one step closer to our goal.
Birdies Farm is proof that when a community comes together, even the smallest seed can grow into something much bigger.
We are growing crops, but we are also growing opportunity, community, and a future where everyone has a place at Birdies.
And we're just getting started.
